Lefcort’s poster, “Temperature-dependent Characterization of GST225 using Ellipsometry” won a first place cash prize at the American Physical Society’s New England Fall Meeting.

The annual meeting, which is intended for a broad audience in physics, was held virtually this year. Lefcort presented his poster and submitted a pdf version for asynchronous review. His poster topic covered the research performed in the McNair Scholars Summer Program 2021. Lefcort was pleasantly surprised when he received an email from the conference organizers reporting that his poster had won first place in the student poster competition…and a cash prize! Said Lefcort, “My effective discussion of complicated field-specific concepts may have contributed to my win”.
