The McNair Apprentice Program is a semester-long introductory program to STEM research. McNair Apprentices learn about STEM graduate program career avenues and undergraduate research opportunities.
The apprenticeship involves:

Shadowing experience within a relevant STEM discipline

Development of quantitative research, writing, and communication skills through a one-credit course

Community building and networking with professors and peers
Eligibility
In order to be eligible to become a McNair Apprentice students must:
- Be a rising sophomore or junior at UConn in good academic standing
- Be enrolled in a STEM major
- Identify as first-generation to college and from a household defined as low-income by the U.S. Department of Education and/or self-identify as an underrepresented racial or ethnic group in STEM graduate studies
